Marrakesh Royal Golf Club
|
The Marrakesh Royal Golf Club was built originally in 1923 by the Pasha of Marrakesh and has been regularly upgraded since then - most notably by Arnaud Massy in 1933 and very recently with the addition of another 9 holes (Menara course).
The course was a favourite of King Hassan II and has had many famous visitors including Churchill, Eisenhower and Lloyd George. It is now home to a David Leadbetter Golfing Academy.
Situated at the feet of the snow-covered Atlas Mountains it is embellished by a profusion of cypress, eucalyptus, palm, olive, orange and apricot trees. Royal Golf de Marrakech is an "English style" course with strategically placed bunkers protecting its greens and testing tall trees and palms requiring some straight driving!
